14 How to use Service Area Zones to get notified of eVA Business Opportunities that match the goods and services that your company provides

Let me explain how the eVA system uses Service Area Zones to notify you of Quick Quotes that apply to your business.

1. The buyer creates a Quick Quote and chooses a Service Area Zone.

2. The buyer chooses either:
a. Service Area Zone 10 which is Statewide and is broad in description.
b. Another Service Area Zone which is specific in description. For example, Service Area Zone 97 describes: Cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg and Counties of Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews, Middlesex, Southampton, Surry, Sussex, and York.

3. The buyer publishes the Quick Quote opportunity to vendors.

4. The eVA system compares the Service Area Zone chosen by the buyer to the Service Area Zone entered by you into your eVA account. The eVA system is looking for a match to determine whether or not you want to be notified of that opportunity.

5. One example of a match is:
a. The buyer is located in Williamsburg and chooses Service Area Zone 97. The vendor has Service Area Zone 97 in their account. The vendor is notified.

6. One example that does not match is:
a. The buyer is located in Williamsburg and chooses Service Area Zone 10. The vendor has Service Area Zone 97 in their account. The vendor is NOT notified.

Let it be clear that selecting statewide Service Area Zone 10 in your vendor account is the only way to guarantee that you will get notified of all business opportunities.

Special Notes:

1. Please follow these steps to update your Service Area Zone to Statewide
in eVA:

Login to your vendor account at www.eva.virginia.gov
Click on Account Maintenance
Click on Service Area|
Click on Add Area(s)
Check the box next to Statewide
Click Select

2. On average most buyers use Service Area Zone 10 (Statewide) when issuing Quick Quotes.

3. Notification of Quick Quotes and other Solicitations also match on the eVA Premium Registration Level and Commodity Codes in the vendor account.

4. The eVA system does not match on Service Area Zone when notifying vendors of solicitations posted on the Virginia Business Opportunities site: http://eva.virginia.gov/, click on Solicitations and Awards.

5. See the related How To Article: "How to use NIGP Commodity Codes to get notified of eVA Business Opportunities that match the goods and services that your company provides."
